MUSIC & PAINTING

Artperformance – Klang trifft auf Farbe

Klaviermusik & Acryl auf Leinwand

ince 2016, the pianist Heike-Angela Moser and the painter and psychologist Anja von Wins have been developing an interdisciplinary performance format. Music and painting enter into a direct, vibrant dialogue. The starting point is the simultaneity of hearing and seeing, inspired by synesthetic perception. Timbres become visible, colors become audible.

The art performance does not see itself as an illustration of music through painting or vice versa. Rather, both art forms respond to one another. Together, they create an inspiring space: musical motifs find visual resonance, color compositions absorb rhythmic impulses, and the dramaturgical developments of both arts permeate each other.

Part of the experiment involves open, exploratory questions: How does the temporal dimension of the audible piano relate to the depiction of the visible on canvas? How can a sound language bound to the moment be translated into lasting visible tones and lines? Can the emotional world between Clara and Robert Schumann be made visible in color, line, and form through selected piano works?

From this encounter between music and painting, a new artwork emerges—and a new kind of experience, both for the performers and for the audience.
